And upgraded Windchill 12 is expected to offer the following:
- A continuation of the previous web-based interface, now with IHS and Silicon Expert integration, expected to save hundreds of man hours by direct access to component data.
- A harmonized process between upstream development activities and downstream manufacturing ones with 12 new BoM of Bill of Materials transformation tools.
- A streamlined alignment between engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and field service for consistency in related operational elements.
- Open Data Protocol or ODATA-enabled integrations with both PTC and external applications.
These updates are also meant to serve the remote working purposes necessitated by the onset of COVID-19 pandemic. Hojlo of IDC adds, “Greater collaboration in PLM takes on added importance as companies work through the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, such as a more distributed workforce, disrupted supply chains, and dynamic customer needs. PTC continues to position itself to address these market needs, and enable flexibility and resiliency for its customers.”
