Firewall Fixes: Windows Firewall Domain GPO
The Spiceworks Community can be an amazing place to get practical, expert advice. You can tap into a network of thousands of tech professionals who have likely faced a similar challenge and are eager to help you solve your problem quickly.
Recently, user kadrek was dealing with a frustrating firewall issue. They were trying to configure a group policy object (GPO) to enable the firewall without disrupting their domain. Kadrek noticed that the domain profile of their Windows Firewall was disabled, while the private and public profiles were enabled, and they were concerned about the best way to safely correct this.As they usually do, the Spiceworks Community came through quickly with helpful answers.
Members advised the user to test the GPO on a single machine in its own Organizational Unit (OU) before applying it to the entire domain. Another member shared their own experience, explaining how they had all three firewall profiles enabled with only minimal exceptions for a specific licensing service. It’s a perfect example of how the community isn’t just a place for jokes but a powerful tool for getting the real-world, technical answers you need to solve your day-to-day problems.
