Spiceworks Community Digest: It’s almost time for SpiceWorld!
It’s nearly here! The biggest event on the IT calendar, SpiceWorld, is fast approaching, and excitement is building as we prepare to gather our community for three days of networking, learning, and fun.
As we get ready for the 2025 conference, we took a moment to look back at the origins of the event, which started way back in 2008 in a tiny movie theater. Our Spiceworks Community asked those who have attended: If you had to capture what made your SpiceWorld experience special/memorable/valuable in ONE single word or phrase, what would it be?
The Power of Connection: Finding “My People”
The top theme among attendees was the deep sense of belonging and community. Working in IT can feel isolating, and SpiceWorld is a chance to finally connect with those who truly “speak the same language.”

- Michael7140h: “I have worked in IT for a long time now, and when you are at a company where you are the solo IT person, it just feels nice to be in a place where the people around you speak the same language.”
- Slava: “Home.”
- Mike (Eaton): “I’d go with personal. Pretty much all other IT-related events are ones where you’re engaging with people that you’ve never met before… it’s a much warmer and friendlier vibe at SpiceWorld.”
- spiceuser-JB: “Phenomenal! I wasn’t nervous about being there and being myself at all.”
Recharging the IT Batteries
Beyond feeling accepted, many IT professionals noted that the event serves as a much-needed annual reset.
- Sean (Spiceworks): “While SpiceWorld can be very draining (working at it, that is), it is the event that over-charges my batteries each year and makes me wish the event was longer and the next one was sooner.”
- computerdave: “In a word: Empowering! As Sean-Spiceworks said, it definitely helps recharge those IT batteries networking with all the other IT Pros in attendance. Another good one would be: Connection.”
- Theitguy107: “It’s tough to narrow it down to one since I have two that immediately come to mind, but I’ll go with “Inspiring” (my very close runner up would be “Motivating”). I have always left SpiceWorld feeling inspired to get back to work and apply a new idea I’ve learned. I’ve also left feeling more motivated about work after spending time with other IT professionals to share each other’s burden. Being a 1-man-show IT Manager, I really need that kind of thing every year!”
